Sponsored Golden Mile for T1International
On Wednesday 1st May, the whole school did their weekly Golden Mile, but this particular week had a twist; they were raising money for T1International; a charity very close to our hearts! Pupils, staff, family and friends of Parwich Primary School enjoyed running, jogging or walking the perimeter of the Cricket Pitch hoping to gain as many laps as possible to raise as much money as possible.
T1International is a non-profit organisation, run by people with, and impacted by, Type 1 Diabetes for people with Type 1 Diabetes. Around the globe today, people with Type 1 Diabetes are dying because they cannot afford or get a hold of insulin, supplies, education and treatment. They believe in a world where everyone with Type 1 Diabetes – no matter where they live – has everything they need to survive and achieve their dreams. Their mission is to support local communities by giving them the tools they need to stand up for their rights so that access to insulin and diabetes supplies becomes a reality for all. We at Parwich would like to support T1International in their mission.

KS1 Gymnastics – Spring Term 1 2019
The Infant children attended a gymnastics festival at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School on Monday 14 January. They watched a routine performed by the students, participated in a variety of gymnastic moves, from forwards rolls to body balances, and experimented travelling across the mats.
The Infants proved they had stamina moving through six activities without stopping for a break. Towards the end of the afternoon, the Infants joined another school to learn and perform a routine to music. Fun was had by all.
Tag Rugby – Years 5 & 6 – Autumn Term 1 2018
The children have been impressing Mrs. Jones with their Tag Rugby skills this term. They have worked very hard in their PE lessons and this was evident at our recent Mini Event with FitzHerbert, Biggin and Hartington Primary Schools.
At the QEGS event on Monday 22 October, the Year 5 & 6 team have gone from strength to strength, showcasing real teamwork in order to draw one game and win five out of their six matches at QEGS. Mrs. Jones was especially proud of them for winning the ‘Team Spirit’ award at this event, as they were very considerate of their team mates, and those from other schools, throughout the tournament.
Well done everyone.

World Cup – Summer Term 2 2018
During the last few weeks, we have been following the Football World Cup hosted in Russia. The children all pulled one of the 36 countries competing out of a box and, in the Junior Class, they have studied that country very closely; researching whereabouts in the world it is, capital cities, terrain and climate, population, native animals, traditional food and drink, highest points and longest rivers, the country’s flag, etc. They have watched one of their team’s matches and written match reports or notes on the game.
Our Sports Day this year followed the theme of the World Cup, as we opened our afternoon of races with England’s National Anthem and the children all wore the flag of the team they have been following throughout the competition. We have been following the progress of our teams during assemblies; alongside discussing the importance of sportsmanship and even learning ‘It’s coming home!’ in Makaton, a form of sign language!
Rounders – Years 5 & 6 – Summer Term 2 2018
On Thursday 12 July, our Year 5 / 6 Rounders team competed at QEGS. They played two matches – winning both! Mrs Jones was particularly impressed with, not only the standard of play, but the sportsmanship our team showed; they were extremely courteous towards the other teams and each other, encouraging all players whenever needed, celebrating the other teams and thanking them with a handshake at the end of each match. None of this needed prompting by Mrs Jones and she was especially proud, as the children had been discussing sportsmanship during their recent assemblies.
